The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Department is mourning the loss of 12-year veteran Detective Stephen Arnold who died on Sunday.
Sheriff Joseph Lopinto announced Arnold's passing saying he was held in the highest regard by his peers.
Arnold was wounded in the line of duty in January 2016 while serving a search warrant and had been under intense medical care since the incident. The suspect who shot Arnold is serving a 35-year sentence in federal prison.
Lopinto says Arnold will be given the JPSO Medal of Honor posthumously.
