Gretna Police To Start Wearing Body Cameras In Next Few Weeks

Police in Gretna are preparing for the transition to having body cameras on their uniforms.

Police Chief Arthur Lawson said yesterday that the Department would begin deploying the technology to officers within the next two to three weeks.

Gretna Police officers will use around 100 cameras along with 40 new dashboard cameras for patrol vehicles.

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office and Kenner Police Department say they are not ready to use cameras because they do not have the money for operations and video storage.
