A City Council member and the families of the victims of the Hard Rock Hotel collapse are pushing for criminal charges.
Councilmember Kristen Palmer announced that she, along with the three families, are pursuing criminal charges against the developer and contractors of the hotel.
In a statement, Palmer said she wants to hold them accountable as they have "broken" public trust, urging the Office of the Inspector General to release its report that detailed violations and failures that caused the collapse.
The developer's attorney responded to the news saying that they only want to settle with the families, noting that a criminal investigation had already been done.
