A former employee of the Louisiana Department of Education is now behind bars for stealing thousands of dollars.

Police say Romney Manuel, 47, was arrested for allegedly stealing over $74,000 from the department. According to reports, the former program consultant allegedly used programming techniques to steal money from the system and then tried to cover it up.

Manuel has since been fired from LDOE and faces a slew of charges including theft.
