The Louisiana Legislative Auditor says a recent review of the state Workforce Commission has revealed payments to dead people.
On Monday, officials said over 370 deceased people were given more than $1 million in state and federal unemployment insurance payments.
The audit reported that hundreds of thousands could have been avoided if the LWF had conducted weekly matches with death data from the state's Health Department.
LWC Secretary Ava Cates says the pandemic led to confusion on qualification rules and they are correcting the issue.
