The city is offering public spaces for people to safely light fireworks this year.

Officials say personal fireworks are allowed in unincorporated parts of St. Tammany Parish, St. John the Baptist Parish, St. Charles Parish and St. Bernard Parish.

Private use of fireworks is banned in both Orleans and Jefferson parishes.

Officials urge residents to check parish regulations on when fireworks can be discharged.
