The city of Kenner is taking steps to clean up the grounds of the neglected Esplanade Mall.
City leaders hired a clean up crew which tended to the grounds over the weekend.
Kenner Mayor Ben Zahn says this action is being done while the city works through ongoing maintenance issues with the mall's owner, New York-based Kohan Retail Investment Group.
Meanwhile, the company has less than two years to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in back taxes.
