Officials in St. Tammany Parish say they will require masks to be worn inside government buildings because of COVID-19.

Starting today, everyone who enters a parish government building will be required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing.

All government employees who have not been vaccinated will have to wear masks, while vaccinated staffers will be encouraged to wear masks but not required.

Health officials said last weekend there were 509 COVID-19 cases reported in St. Tammany Parish.
