Mosquito Spraying Scheduled In Orleans Parish After Human Case Of West Nile

The Louisiana Health Department is confirming a human case of West Nile Virus in Orleans Parish.

Officials sent out an advisory yesterday saying the patient has the neuro-invasive form of the disease and first developed symptoms on August 13.

Mosquito control spraying will be conducted tonight by airplane from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. in an area bordered by Tchoupitoulas Street, River Road, the Jefferson Parish line, Howard Avenue, and I-10.

Tips to protect yourself from West Nile virus include wearing insect repellent, long-sleeved clothing, and removing standing water from containers around homes.
