The Sewerage & Water Board reports that operations at the East Bank Wastewater Treatment Plant should be fully restored by today.

If that works out, residents will be able to take long showers and baths, and use their dishwashers and washing machines.

Over the past week, the water agency has warned that these activities could overload the system and cause sewer backups.

The wastewater treatment plant was disabled when Hurricane Ida knocked out Entergy New Orleans' transmission lines and cut off the power in the metro area.
