Louisiana health officials say they're ready to vaccinate kids ages five to 11.

Once the Pfizer vaccine was declared OK for younger kids, the state started stockpiling the vaccine with the child-friendly lower dose.

Dr. Frank Welch, medical director for the state's immunization program, says it's one-third of the adult dose.

He says the state is prepared to get doses of the vaccine to doctors and pharmacies within 12 to 2 hours.

He said providers have already ordered more than 115,000 doses of the pediatric vaccine.
