FEMA is reporting that the taxpayer cost of the state's pandemic-related funerals is in the millions.

The agency announced on Monday that it has approved nearly $30 million in coronavirus funeral costs in Louisiana since January of 2020.

There have been more than 6,800 applications in Louisiana, and FEMA has approved more than 4,300 of them.

The agency says eligibility isn't determined by state or location, but is based on when an applicant submits all the necessary documentation.
