Crime in New Orleans is at a "critical mass point," according to Rafael Goyeneche, president of the Metropolitan Crime Commission.

Goyeneche says the NOPD has hired 40 new officers this year, but has lost 140. Some of the new officers are still in the training academy.

Violent crime in the city is up 11%.

NOPD Chief Shaun Ferguson says carjackings are a big problem lately, with 32 in November alone.
