A runoff election scheduled for Saturday will decide who will be the Orleans Parish Sheriff.

New Orleans voters will cast a ballot for four-term incumbent Marlin Gusman, or for challenger Susan Hutson, the city's former independent police monitor.

In last month's election neither candidate won 50% of the vote, making the runoff necessary.

Gusman says he'll prioritize the addition of a special needs facility for inmates with mental health issues.

Hutson says the existing jail could be redesigned, with no need for a new building.
