U.S. Sen. John Kennedy says Louisiana will receive $219 million in federal dollars for military construction projects this year.

The Republican senator says the funds from the National Defense Authorization Act will pay for new barracks and a new joint operations center at Fort Polk, plus a road and gate project and a weapons generation facility at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City.

The money will also fund construction of training facility barracks for the Louisiana National Guard at Camp Minden, as well as the Lake Charles National Guard Readiness Center.
