An LSU graduate is about to become the first full-time female manager in the history of Minor League baseball.

MLB.com reports 34-year-old Rachel Balkovec has been named manager of the Yankees' Low-A affiliate Tampa Tarpons, starting next season.

Balkovec is from Omaha, Nebraska, and earned a master's in sport administration from LSU in 2012.

She's been a coach in pro baseball for ten years, serving as a hitting coach in the organization's rookie-level Florida Complex League.
