The Krewe du Vieux parade will have a different route from what was planned, and the krewe's queen is sitting it out.
Krewe leaders say the route is being shortened because of the police manpower shortage, cutting most of the Marigny Rectangle from the parade route.
The krewe's queen, city health director Dr. Jennifer Avegno, says she'll still reign, but won't ride in the parade out of "concern for public and krewe health and safety."
