Gov. John Bel Edwards believes the COVID Omicron surge is almost over in Louisiana.
Edwards says new cases are starting to go down noting 3,300 new cases were reported over the last three days.
He also says virus deaths are still too high and too many people are suffering the loss of loved ones.
Edwards is still planning to renew his COVID-19 Public Health Emergency but noted masks will not be mentioned.
New state guidance for K-12 schools will be issued tomorrow but are not expected to mention masks.
