A federal judge says Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams won't be allowed to play the race card when he goes on trial next month.

Williams and his co-defendant Nicole Burdett face federal tax fraud charges.

U.S. District Court Judge Lance Africk ruled in a pre-trial conference last week that Williams won't be allowed to bring up debunked claims that the government indicted him because of racial bias.

Williams and Burdett are accused of overstating his law firm's write-offs and failing to report payments from clients.
