Gov. Edwards Signs Mugshot Bill Into Law

The "Mugshot Bill" is now in effect in Louisiana after Gov. John Bel Edwards signed it into law on Tuesday.

The law places restrictions on the release of booking photos to the media.

Exceptions include mugshots of fugitives, somebody who's an imminent threat, or somebody who's been convicted of a crime or has pleaded guilty or no contest.

In addition, mugshots can be released of people charged with violent crimes, or with sex offenses, human trafficking, or crimes against minors, people with infirmities, or animals.
