According to a recent report from national transportation research nonprofit TRIP, traffic deaths in Louisiana are on the rise.

The report says traffic fatalities in the state surged 34% from 2019 to 2021 compared to 19% nationwide over the same period.

A Louisiana State Police spokesman says most fatal traffic accidents result from drunk driving, multitasking, distractions both inside and outside the car, and rubbernecking other accidents.
