The City of New Orleans is officially under a utility shut-off moratorium through November 1.

Entergy New Orleans and City Councilmembers agreed to a resolution passed Tuesday, prohibiting power shut-offs for overdue bills.

City officials are stressing to residents that they should continue paying their full bills, or as much as they can afford to pay toward those bills, even through the moratorium.

Also Tuesday, Entergy announced it is committing $10 million in shareholder donations to bill assistance programs for residential customers.
