The New Orleans Health Department is sounding a warning about a new drug further complicating the opioid crisis.
Xylazine is an animal tranquilizer known on the streets as Tranq. It mimics and prolongs the effects of fentanyl, and is being mixed with fentanyl, making it even deadlier.
Health officials say Xylazine is resistant to Narcan and other overdose reversal drugs such as naloxone.
