New requirements are now in place for the owners and operators of short-term residential rentals in New Orleans.

The City Council voted on Thursday to limit the number of short-term rentals to three per city square, which may include more than one street.

Permits will be awarded by lottery on blocks where there's more than one applicant.

Owners and operators are now required to take a training course, and must live on-site full-time and be present when guests arrive.

The Council voted after several hours of public comment.
