Assumption Parish OKs Pay Hikes For New Teachers, Staff At Public Schools

Many of the public school teachers and supporting staffers in Assumption Parish have pay raises on the way.

The parish School Board recently approved higher salaries for new teachers and other staff, such as bus drivers and janitors.

A study compared the pay in Assumption Parish schools with those in places like Ascension and Iberville Parishes, and it found the local pay lacking.

The new pay rates take effect next month.
