A Jefferson Parish deputy is out of a job following his arrest on Tuesday for reportedly attacking his girlfriend Monday night.

The sheriff's office says Kyle Nugent was driving a marked sheriff's office car when he was reportedly involved in a hit-and-run in the parking lot of the apartment complex where the assault took place.

Nugent was arrested for DWI, reckless driving, hit-and-run and domestic abuse battery involving strangulation. He was fired after his arrest.

Nugent has a court appearance scheduled for Thursday.
