A few hundred dollars a month with no strings attached could help slow biological aging in the young kids of low-income moms, according to a trial detailed Tuesday in the journal "Nature Human Behaviour."
Researchers tracked families across four U.S. cities for 76 months, including 300 New Orleans moms randomly assigned to get either $333 or $20 a month after giving birth.
Saliva tests at age four showed slower biological aging in children whose families received the larger payments.
The results could point to better health later in life, but researchers say more time is needed to know for sure.
