A flash flood emergency has been issued for areas surrounding New Orleans as Hurricane Francine makes landfall in Louisiana.
The hurricane, which was downgraded back to a category 1 storm, hit Louisiana on Wednesday afternoon.
The National Hurricane Center says maximum sustained winds are now estimated around 85 miles per hour, down from 100 miles per hour.
Francine is expected to cause life-threatening conditions and power outages across the state, including deadly storm surge, heavy rains, and hurricane-force winds.
