Tropical Storm Bertha continued to drift towards an eventual landfall in southeast Louisiana, with the worst of the storm well-separated from its center.
While the National Hurricane Center kept Bertha's winds at 50 miles per hour as of the 10am advisory, forecasters noted it appeared the system is on the verge of weakening.
Local impacts are expected to be minimal, focused mainly along the coast.
"Bertha is forecast to bring the threat of tropical storm force wind gusts to coastal areas of Plaquemines, Jefferson, Lafourche, and Terrebonne Parishes and locally heavy rainfall generally south of I-10, and coastal flooding of up to 2 to 4 feet above normally dry ground," the local National Weather Service office said. "The coastal areas of Mississippi and southeast Louisiana will have the greatest threat, especially along and south of I-10."
