US lawmakers are trying to ban the sale of "child sex robots"

Most of us probably didn't even realize selling "child sex robots" was a common occurrence, but lawmakers in Washington DC are currently making efforts to ban the sale of this product.

The House unanimously passed a bill yesterday that would do exactly that - pedophiles (or people who buy gifts for pedophiles) can no longer buy child sex dolls (assuming the Senate also approves this bill, which they probably will).

The CREEPER Act was the brainchild (no pun intended) of Rep. Dan Donovan, R-N.Y. The bill was passed by a voice vote, which means this law clearly had bipartisan support (in fact, 33 lawmakers co-sponsored the policy).

Donovan said, “My bill takes necessary steps to stop these sickening dolls from reaching our communities. We must protect children from those who wish them harm. I thank House leadership for bringing this important legislation to the floor, and I implore the Senate to swiftly move it forward.”

The bill states that child sex dolls are "customizable or morphable" and look just like real kids.

So who makes these things, anyway?  Apparently most child sex dolls are made in China or Japan and when they're shipped to America they're labeled as as mannequins so authorities and critics of the practice won't be aware of what's being sent.

According to Donovan there's a correlation between people who own child sex dolls and people who collect child pornography.

If the Senate approves this bill, the US will join Australia and the UK in banning the sale of these disturbing toys.

Critics of the bill (and there aren't many) have stated that banning the items won't actually stop children from being sexually assaulted.  Some have even suggested that selling these items could help intelligence agencies to track and monitor pedophiles.

But what do y'all think?  Do you agree with US lawmakers in banning these items?  Take the poll below.
