The regular session of the Louisiana Legislature is underway.
Before lawmakers got down to work, Governor John Bel Edwards addressed a joint session of the House and Senate yesterday.
He expressed disappointment that the special session on the budget ended early last week without any new taxes being approved to offset the coming $700 million shortfall this July.
A last-gasp special session on the budget is set for May 14th.
