A couple of bills are advancing at the State Capitol that could end with Louisiana having a higher minimum wage than the one set by the federal government.
The Senate Labor Committee Thursday sent two bills to the full Senate for consideration. One of them would set the minimum wage in the state at $8 an hour in 2019 and hike it another 50-cents in 2020.
The other seeks voter approval of those increases before they're implemented.
