Final passage of tougher anti-hazing legislation in Louisiana is near.
The state Senate unanimously approved the Max Gruver Act Monday, the bill named after the LSU freshman from Georgia who died last September after an alcohol-related hazing by members of Phi Delta Theta.
It proposes that anyone involved in a hazing that results in the death of a victim with a blood-alcohol level of at least .30 serve up to five years in prison and be fined up to ten-thousand-dollars.
Gruver's BAC was .495.
