Boil Water Advisory Still In Effect In LaPlace

While emergency water main repair work in LaPlace is complete, a boil water advisory for the nearby area remains in effect.

The advisory covered those in the area of Chantilly Drive to St. Andrews Blvd. on Belle Terre Road after the repairs caused low water pressure.

"Protocol following a loss of pressure to the system requires testing of a water sample by a state certified lab," said a press release from St. John the Baptist Parish. "The sample must be incubated for 24 hours before the test is administered. Test results are sent to both the Parish and Department of Health and if no contaminants are identified, the (advisory) is lifted usually within 48 hours."

Those under the advisory should boil their water for one minute in a clear container before use.
