Plans to develop a new neighborhood and commercial business space on the former site of the Colonial Golf and Country Club in Harahan are moving forward.
The 88-acre space has been vacant since the Country Club closed down back in 2012. Developers will be splitting up the space with 15 acres going to commercial use, 15 acres going towards a retention pond and the remaining 58 acres going towards building 76 new homes.
Residents of the nearby areas don't mind adding the homes, but they are against adding more commercial space since they feel there are already too many vacant locations in the area.
