Tax, Budget Bills Approved For New Fiscal Year

There will be no major budget cuts when Louisiana's new spending plan takes effect July 1st.

State lawmakers gave final approval yesterday to the $29 billion budget after giving a thumbs-up to extending part of an expiring one-percent sales tax.

The state's new sales tax will total 4.45% compared to the five cents on the dollar paid now.
