Move To Resurrect Area Around Charity Hospital

Just ahead of the 13th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, efforts are getting underway to try and resurrect the area around the storm and flood-shuttered Charity Hospital.

It was launched Wednesday by the Greater New Orleans Foundation, the group seeking public input for a report that will subsequently lead to a master plan for that portion of the Tulane Avenue area.

Foundation members hope to address issues such as affordable housing, retail business and transit in that section of downtown that they are calling the Spirit of Charity District.
