A longtime pastor in southeast Louisiana is facing up to ten years in prison after pleading guilty to the theft of government funds.
The U.S. Attorney's Office in New Orleans says that Jerry Newton of Slidell, the pastor at Bogalusa Baptist Church, has admitted to fraudulently obtaining $95,000 in Social Security disability benefits.
He failed to disclose that he had paid positions with the church and two companies he owned.
