NOPD Recovers Female Body From Lake Pontchartrain

New Orleans Police announced Tuesday night that the body of an "adult female" was recovered in Lake Pontchartrain.

The body was discovered around 5:20 p.m. about a quarter of a mile from the Seabrook Bridge.

The recovery comes after a multi-day search for Sadie Thibodeaux, who was aboard a sailboat that was found Sunday afternoon with dogs and cell phones aboard, but no passengers. A man who was also aboard the sailboat was rescued Monday.

There is no confirmation the body found Tuesday is that of Thibodeaux's. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death and release the identity of the victim after notifying next-of-kin.
