Governor John Bel Edwards says Senator John Kennedy is wrong in his criticism of bipartisan criminal justice reforms in Louisiana.
The governor said Wednesday recent data shows reforms passed by the Louisiana Legislature last year are working, despite claims made to the contrary by Senator Kennedy.
Kennedy sent a letter to President Trump blasting the Louisiana reforms citing high recidivism and re-arrest rates.
Governor Edwards is scheduled to meet with President Trump Thursday to talk about justice reforms that could be applied on a national level.
