The New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board is ready to begin cutting off service to delinquent customers with some shut-offs coming as soon as today.
Earlier this month, notices were sent out to customers who hadn't paid their bills. Some were notified they had 14 days to pay or else their water would be disconnected.
The Board resumed their normal process of collections this month, and they've said hundreds of customers have come in to either dispute their bill or make a payment.
The city council is against this move, as they say with all of the recent billing errors they should not be threatening shut-offs.
