A man in St. Tammany Parish will likely spend the rest of his life in prison for sexually abusing a young girl.
District Attorney Warren Montgomery says 64-year-old James Matthew Cole of Lacombe has been sentenced to 99 years behind bars, the maximum punishment allowed for sexual battery of a victim under 13.
Cole also received sentences of 40 years each for second-degree rape and molestation of a juvenile.
The victim says Cole began abusing her when she was as young as nine, and that it continued for several years.
