State police say an elderly South Louisiana man is dead after his pickup truck was struck by a man suspected of drag racing.
Troopers say 18-year-old Jordan Marchese of New Orleans lost control of his Ford Mustang while traveling on the shoulder of U.S. 61 in Jefferson Parish to pass another vehicle.
His car subsequently slammed into a Toyota Tundra occupied by 70-year-old Rafael Canessa Sr. of Metairie who died after being transported to the hospital.
Charges against Marchese are pending further investigation.
