Officials are celebrating the opening of a new homeless shelter in New Orleans.
The shelter is taking up residence in the old Veterans Administration hospital. A medical clinic will be available for the homeless who may require attention on the first floor, and the second floor has 100 beds for those who are looking for a place to sleep.
The new facility will have fewer restrictions in place for those who need it, as they will not require sobriety or charge an entrance fee.
Mayor LaToya Cantrell says this a good start, but there's still a lot of work in the fight against homelessness.
