Louisiana State Police say a trooper shot and killed a motorist during a traffic stop in Hammond early Thursday morning.
The shooting happened at 12:44 a.m. on North Oak Street near U.S. 190 after a struggle took place between the trooper and the motorist.
Officials say the motorist was transported to the North Oaks Health System in critical condition, but died upon arrival.
An investigation into the shooting is currently underway.
