Federal Funding Being Allocated To Help Louisiana Battle Mosquitoes

The war on mosquitoes in Louisiana is being stepped up.

Officials with the state health department say a $1 million federal grant from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will be split among four parishes.

The money will go to parishes or cities without an in-house mosquito abatement district that are seeking to create one. The recipients can use the funds to purchase equipment and supplies.
