Team Picked To Redevelop Former Charity Hospital

It's been closed since Katrina and levee failures flooded it out 13 years ago, but the building that once housed Charity Hospital is closer to being put to use again.

The LSU Charity Hospital Redevelopment Project Management Committee is set to recommend that the group, 1532 Tulane Partners, enter into predevelopment negotiations for the revitalization project estimated to cost $245 million.

It's envisioned that the building will be used for housing and retail space, medical training programs, and that Tulane University be an anchor tenant.

Work could wrap up by 2021.
