Researchers at Washington University in St. Louis will be studying Louisianans with Type 2 diabetes.
Governor John Bel Edwards says the effort could result in better outcomes for individuals while potentially spending less money.
The five-year study is being funding by a $3 million grant that will examine the impact of having someone help patients deal with their healthcare.
