The current Orleans Parish School Board president and vice president will serve for another year after the board voted unanimously last night to suspend its rules to extend term limits for the leaders.
The decision comes as board member Leslie Ellison planned to seek presidency.
Previous comments she made questioning LGBT rights in schools caused her candidacy to be surrounded by controversy, leading to 20 people speaking out against her at the meeting.
