Governor John Bel Edwards is looking to spend $350 million on improvements to Louisiana's coast.
He says the majority of the money will come from federal revenue generated by offshore oil and gas production.
Edwards wants to spend a large chunk of the funds on projects to protect the lives of the two million people who live and work along the coast, including the West Shore Lake Pontchartrain hurricane protection project.
